Um. Dee is kind of confused about all of it. Because it comes out of nowhere, and while he did know Shinn was considering it? It still blew him out of the water, because Dee thinks he'd be a horrible father figure.
But on the other hand, he's going to take it seriously, because he can't not take it seriously, no matter how he was suddenly chosen to be a "dad". He's trying to see it from an adult's perspective; kids in camp without their parents there, and he feels for them. So while he's not gonna go around telling the entire camp he's Yzak's camp dad, or Cabin 10's camp dad or whatever, he will step up when he thinks he has to be a dad or a dad-like figure, especially for the kids in his cabin, since he's around them the most. ...if that makes sense.
And on top of all that, he likes Yzak. Out of camp, he's one of the closest he's gotten to since he arrived, and he'd mafia for him and all that (but that's a completely different essay), so. If he were told to be someone else's camp dad, as well? He'd probably just WTF over it and accept it, too. He wants to be the kids friend, but then again, he wants them to come to him if they have problems and need someone to talk to.
It's funny cause technically, the ZAFT boys have been mostly on their own since they were around 16/17. XD But lol that'll be fun to play with, cause while Yzak is TOTALLY INSISTANT that he can take care of himself and doesn't consider himself as a kid at all, but he'd see things are more friend confiding if it came down to going to Dee with anything, which looking from either angle, can be the same thing of sorts! But it's still a cute thought. XD DADEE. ♥!!!
Yeah, Dee doesn't plan on treating anyone as a kid, because I'm sure when he was a kid, he hated being treated like one too. He's more of a friends -type, and would call it that. XD SON WHO IS NOT A GAY LUVER~!! ♥
Because one time Lee mentioned that Miri would be like a second TenTen if she hung out with him enough, is there anyone in camp who are like that for the people in Dee's canon? Ryo, JJ, Bikky, etc? XD IF ANY AT ALL.
This is...something I've actually thought about after meeting a few people in camp. I can't say there's anyone that reminds him of them? But there are people who kind of fit into those categories, to a point.
Like, for example, Yzak is like the anti-Bikky. He gets along with Yzak, teases him occasionally, and almost kind of sees him as a little brother. And if Dee had to point out to Bikky who Bikky should act more like, it'd be Yzak. Which is probably why Dee talks to Yzak all the time.
As for someone like JJ? Emilio, hands down. XD But he also kind of fits into the Bikky category too, more so for the "I'm gonna smack you because you're being an idiot" instead of the little brother figure. Emilio gets on his nerves sometimes like Bikky does, so it's almost like an automatic reaction to haul off and smack him in the back of the head.
And...there's nobody else I can really think of. I mean, Ray could probably be the second like, Drake or something. Because he's someone he gets along with, and plus, is an adult. So he can talk to Ray about anything pretty much, no holds bar. Wolfwood falls into this category too, to an extent.
...ya know, this is will probably turn into an actual essay on it's own, so I'm gonna stop here. XD
Well, joking aside (and IRC wallings/molestings of Yzak), prooooobably someone closer to his age. He hasn't really seen anyone, though, that he's ever thought about doing it with, so.
But if some camp ailment made him go after people he would sex up? It'd be between Fraser, Ray, and maaaaaaybe Wolfwood. And uh, that's just guesses.
Long answer? It's hard to explain. Dee knows that a lot of people change when they get older, yadda yadda, maturity and adult stuff and that kind of bullshit (him not being an example of this, but XD). But he was surprised at how stubborn Tatsumi was, and it kind of threw him for a loop. He never expected Tatsumi-san to be so...I don't know. Irresponsible? Brash? Because to Dee, Tatsumi-san is someone he respects, to the point where he'll use an honorific that he doesn't even know the meaning of, but does it because Tatsumi asked him too, and seems very level-headed and aware of what he wants, etc.
So when he deaged, he wasn't sure what to do at first, because in a way, it wasn't the Tatsumi he knew at all. Which was part of the reason that Dee followed him into the woods.
So no, it didn't change anything how Dee views Tatsumi. XD I got off on tangents, sorry. But seekrity, as you already saw, Dee kind of adopted Tatsumi, so maybe yes it changed? Dee just knows that he'll probably keep a closer eye on Tatsumi, just to see if any of that childhood brashness carried over into him being an adult.
As I bitched in IRC, playing de-aged!Tatsumi was hard! Enjoyably so, but still difficult. I really love getting a glimpse at how someone like Dee (who, despite Tatsumi liking him, has really only seen his "public face," so to speak) viewed lil' Tatsumi.
I really wanted not to end up playing just a mini!Tatsumi. I mean, there were definitely, hm, references made but... I guess it was my way of incorporating the fact that Tatsumi is a guy in his 70s-80s who's seen and experienced a lot of shit in his life/afterlife.
And the quote I couldn't get out of my head was:
...Humans, as they grow older, think too much. Sometimes I envy the young like Kurosaki-kun. I envy that power to follow through on one's thoughts.
Ynm, Volume 8, p. 160
I mean, the way Tatsumi acts obviously can't be blamed entirely on age -- I think that most of the years from the end of his partnership with Tsuzuki to the Bookverse Arc basically just cemented what was already there. And his basic character strengths and weaknesses are still the same.
But I just love how that quote implies that he might have somehow been different many years ago, that he might be regretting a change (that, at that point, he can hardly remember).
So while he wasn't a happy kid at the point from which I pulled him, it was pre-"mother killing" angst, pre-adulthood cynicism (...well, sort of |D ) and, of course, pre-Tsuzuki. He might have never quite been a kid, but he was still free of the regrets and guilt that would begin to pile up on him and not begin to be relieved until Hisoka came along and stirred things up. Tatsumi is level-headed, but when under pressure, he definitely thinks with his heart and not his head. And his heart used to be a lot freer.
Tatsumi looks good for his age. 8D ♥ [/stupid joke that had to be made]
OOCly, I was really surprised at how Tatsumi came out as a kid. I've only seen him in the animated YnM, and even though I loved him muchly, I never really got a hold of what he was like, aside from "Tsuzuki-san, don't spend too much of treats *FLASH*" or when he like, saves the day and stuff. And you already got my IC thoughts, so not going there again~ 8D
I'm betting that if Dee ever did witness that (ie: Tatsumi under pressure), he would change his thoughts on him, moreso than when he was a kid. Because yeah, Tatsumi-san = cool and collected.
You know you've been spending too much time in the theatre when you think, when planning to de-age a character in a zombie summer camp RP, "What would be the most interesting, active choice?"
...and no, I'm not kidding. Exact words. XD
Though if I'd managed to include the word "organic' in there somewhere, I really might have had to kill myself. For honor's sake.
